Why switch to wordpress now?
In response to some comments on my buh-bye wordpress post, I'll ask the question - What's the motivation to switch to WP anymore?
Its clear that both MT and WP need money. MT chose the legal way. WP developer chose the dubious path. As pointed out in the mz thread, its a question of trust. I dont have the time and energy to research something that might be dubious, and that's sufficient to turn-off a potential switch.
With regards to abundant defense of the said action, many people have pointed out its not 'spam'. Who cares? To me, search results manipulation is equally offensive.

The fact still remains that what ONE developer of wordpress did, should not reflect on the entire project.

Ryan Boren has been contributing more code than Matt Mullenweg, so if you want to think about it that way, Ryan's the main coder of Wordpress. Still though.. what Matt did (which we still don't exactly know what it was) should not reflect on the entire project.
If you want to "punish something" then stop visiting Matt's site, but "boycotting wordpress" isn't really the answer, because the funds from the alleged "illegal activities" weren't even going toward Wordpress development, but rather, the Wordpress Foundation (again, not started by all the developers of Wordpress, only Matt).

Who am I to "punish something".. I'm just an average blogger was considering trying out wordpress because "MT isn't free". Sure, I'll wait for Matt's response, but i'm in no mood to try wordpress before that.

Well it certainly would put me off no matter the quality of the software.
Besides there's other viable free alternatives to MT . Textpattern will soon hit 1.0 and the improvements in the lastest builds make it look impressive.
